The Oakland Steiner School is accepting applications for first grade class teacher for the 2008-2009 school year.
Preferred candidates are:
♦ Fully trained Waldorf teachers who work out of Anthroposophy
♦ Individuals with a love of children and learning
♦ Teachers with prior classroom experience
Waldorf Teaching Certificate or equivalent
Waldorf teacher training and a deep commitment to Waldorf principles;
Prior classroom teaching experience;
Good interpersonal and communication skills;
The enthusiasm, energy and desire to be part of our school
The willingness to cultivate effective parent-teacher communication and parent education;
The ability and willingness to participate in our active community life.

At Oakland Steiner School we have engaged our students in French and German but will have to say 'au revoir' to our French teacher this summer. For the right candidate we are open to consider other languages. Qualifications: native or highly fluent speaker; able to work effectively with students in Grades 1-8; Bachelors Degree in Education or Language desirable; 1-2 years successful foreign language teaching of children; Waldorf experience and or training preferred; interest in Waldorf pedagogy essential. You would teach grades 1 through 8 twice a week for a total of 16 periods. This could be an hourly or salaried position. We are looking for someone to connect and interact with people within and outside the school, the communication of information including the newsletter. Other functions are general administrative tasks and fundraising.This will intitially be a part-time position with the possiblility of expansion in the next school year. The candidate would have the following qualifications:
Ability to connect and interact well with people and represent the school.
Strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple priorities and attention to detail.
Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Frundraising experience.
Good computer skills.
